A water visualization tool: Visualizing one of our most important resources. Designed for water stressed regions, this water visualization tool and system helps users develop a clear understanding of how their usage changes and improves overtime. Hydria provides an understated and delightful way to clearly define ones impact on their local and global environment.

How can we waste less water?
Hydria is a brand and product line designed for water stressed regions. Its purpose is to develop stronger relationships with one of our most precious resources.
Hydria (noun) : A functional and decorative ancient Greek water jug used to transport and store water in the home.
Finding opportunity
With a direction as broad as “wasting less water” broad and diverse ideation was key to finding a wide range of possible solutions to pursue. Many of these ideas didn’t move past the first few rounds of sketching but provided a good foundation.

Having a benchmark for what an acceptable amount of water usage is would be great. It would be nice to be aware of our daily watrer usage.

Display
The interaction between the display unit and sensor was suggested through the displays gestural form. The display unit sync’s with the ultrasonic sensors and acts as a hub for data collection.
Lifting gesture provides a subtle que to interact
A QR code guides the user through the instructions and setup
The pairing process is facilitated during initial setup
Ultrasonic Sensor
Ultrasonic sonar sensors measure the flow of water in pipes in an unobtrusive form factor.
Flexible arms attach to pipes of varying diameter.
LED ring glows when functioning properly.
Varying quantities of sensors could be purchased to best suit individual user desires
